Mexico Vacation With The Fannings: June 2013

Yesterday evening we got back from an AWESOME vacation! One of the best ever!! For Christmas this year my parents got us all a trip to a phenomenal all inclusive resort in Riviera Maya, Mexico.

I'll let the pictures do most of the talking but here's a little summary of how our girl did on her first vacation:

*We flew First Class there and back (thanks Mom and Dad!!) and Embry did okay. Both flights were during nap and she eventually fell asleep, after fighting it was some crying. It stinks being that person on the plane with the crying baby! Luckily each time it lasted just a few minutes.
*Our rooms were all big and had humongous bathrooms with a big tub and huge shower...so we put the crib in the walk in shower.... (Photo below). Worked out perfectly!
*Embry typically goes to bed at 6:45 or 7:00 pm and dinner reservations weren't until 6:30, and some nights even 7:30. She did great for being up until 9:30 some nights, BUT was quite the early riser. Jacob and I took turns each day of getting up with her and getting out of the room, going on walks, eating an early breakfast, etc.
*Our room was two doors down from my parents room, so our monitor worked there. Each night we were able to put Embry down and play games in their room. One night the girls went to the show at the resort and the guy watched basketball in the room and kept an ear out for Emmy.
*During her two daily naps, one or both of us would go nap with her. It never was an issue of feeling like we had to go back to the room...we both really enjoyed our daily naps =)
*One thing that cracked us all up during the trip was how much all the Mexican men loved Embry. At each meal we had we had male waiters and they always fawned over E and she reciprocated with a lot of flirting back to them. It was pretty cute!
*She has now MASTERED crawling. I left the states with a semi-crawler, and boy has she got the hang of it now!

One really cool thing that happened is I saw some people I knew! I'm sure everyone reading this remembers my YoungLife leader Sara Sullivan who I was very close to passed away 3.5 years ago after giving birth to her first daughter 12 days earlier. Well over the years I got to know her parents and her in-laws (Brady's parents). Once me and my girlfriends even spent a weekend with her in-laws in Granite Shoals, TX at their lake house on LBJ. On Monday of our trip I saw someone that looked like Linda, Brady's mom. I told my family but brushed it off. Tuesday, our last full day, I saw them again at the pool and told my mom and sisters, but again didn't think much of it. Finally we saw them on the beach that afternoon and I finally went up to them and said, "are you guys the Sullivans?" I got a weird look and said again- "is your son Brady?".... "Um Yes...." We spent the afternoon catching up with them! Brady and his new wife, Jenny, were set to arrive there Thursday (today) as Brady's brother is getting married at the resort! It's such a small, small world! We even toasted to our sweet Sara on the beach that day and know that she had a hand in our meeting up! (There's a picture of me with the Sullivan's below).
