Everything Embry: January 5

Happy New Years

Happy New Years to all! To say we celebrated would be stretching...Jacob had to work NYE and I kept our neighbor, Eliot, for a few hours. We had a normal evening and neither of us made it up until midnight. Oh the joys of having a (early rising) toddler.

Jacob had the morning off of work, but actually had to work a few hours in the afternoon on a few big hearings for later in the week. We went to lunch as a family before Jacob headed into the office, then, Embry and I spent some of the afternoon at the neighborhood park and counted down until Daddy came home from work.

January 1 was E's 15 month "birthday"

What a difference a year makes! (Three months was one of my favorite of her monthly pics)

Fire

Monday afternoon I got some scary news while I was at the grocery store. Three neighbors called me within 2 minutes and my knees went weak. A house on our street was up in flames. The family, a mom and four daughters, all got out okay (three of the four girls were home) but they lost everything, literally everything.

I spent part of the week utilizing local moms groups, MOPS, neighborhood groups, etc. to help raise money and donations for the family. I have received a crazy amount of donations, it's been wonderful. The family has been by each day to pick stuff up, and each day we've filled their van.

Click here to see the local ABC News story on the family.

New Toys

We spent a lot of time at home this week playing with new Christmas toys!  A new game is hiding things such as loveys, cups, etc.... in her new kitchen. Funny videos below....

Playing in Mommy's new basket from Kiki and E-Pa!

Her new kitchen from Mommy and Daddy has been a big hit!

Her music box from Great Gram and Papa Fanning from last year.

Play food galore!

We exchanged a few multiple toys she received for this cleaning set!

Playing with her magnetic "paper" dolls from the Harts

Sick

Embry's never ending cold, is flaring yet again! New Years Day her cough started back up yet again. Wednesday night she had a bad nights sleep, up crying because of the coughing we think. Also, she started to actually cut one of her many teeth that are coming in that day.

Thursday she didn't nap great during the day and was just so clingy. By the evening I was spent and Jacob was working late. Embry ended up pooping in the tub and I just grabbed her and took her to the kitchen to bathe her. After I got her into pajamas she was crying so hard she ended up throwing up all over herself, me and the hallway. =( Of course, the tub was still full of dirty water....I just stripped us both down and called Jacob home crying. Man, it was a rough hour or so. Luckily, she never threw up again and got a good nights sleep that night.

Friday night she had another restless night. Ugh. Hoping she shakes this cold once and for all! She finally got a 12+ hour night sleep last night (of course I'm jinxing it now I'm sure....) but she seems is such good spirits today!

One of her restless nights she ended up falling asleep sitting up.....

So of course I had to sneak in and take a picture, despite it being 2:00 am.....

Lots of snuggles this week

Embry: 15 Months Old

15 Month Stats

Weight:  24 pounds (done at home) (She was 23 pounds 1 oz at the pediatrician about 10 days ago)

Height: Will update after her well check! We don't go to well check until January 16.
Diapers: Size 4
Clothes: 18 months, 12-18 months, some 18-24 month things. 18 month PJs. She's very true to size on most clothes, even pants surprisingly.
Shoes: Still size 4 shoes...never thought she'd be in size 4 shoes for 5 months! I've tried on some of her size 5 and they're way too big!
Eating: Eats 3 meals a day, 2 snacks a day, drinks around 12-16 oz of organic whole milk per day. Still kind of picky, and definitely knows what she wants and doesn't want! Favorites are blackberries, blueberries, Cheerios with Daddy, fish sticks, macaroni and cheese, greek yogurt, Ritz crackers with cream cheese.
Sleeping: 11 hours straight through the night (7:30 pm-6:30 am) and two naps adding up to 3 hours (typically at 8:30 am and 1:30 pm). Showing NO signs of dropping her morning nap! Yay! Still sleeps in a sleep sack with pacifier attached with a crib full of her white lovey bears.
Teeth: 6 teeth...Her sixth tooth literally cut through this morning. She's very close to cutting numbers 7 and 8. Poor girl!
Words: Kind of stuck on this one. I don't think she has any official words. She says "ish" for just about everything. But, says "da" for yes, says "ha" for hot, says "ba" for ball... But I'm still not writing down any official words in the baby book! Does really well with signs- all done, food, more, cookie.... Shakes her head yes and no. She understands most things we say to her.
(Added a few new line items)
Favorite Toys: Current favorites are her shopping cart, purses, strollers, make up vanity, magnadoodle, nativity set, and stacking cups. Outside she loves sitting in her cozy coupe and push car.
Favorite Books: "Wherever You Are My Love Will Find You" (her bedtime book), "Hand, Hand, Fingers, Thumb", Peek-a-boo Baby Bath Book, Pop Up Little People Christmas Book

New Things!

*Out of her mommy phase. Still wants only mommy sometimes, but not like last month
*Knows body parts- hair, eyes, ears, nose, teeth, toes
*Songs she knows gestures for- "Open Shut Them", "The Wheels on the Bus", "Clap Your Hands"
*Dances like crazy when she hears any music.
*Climbs up stairs, FAST
*Recognizes peoples names (most of our family members, friends, etc....)
*Follows and understands most of what we say to her (ex- Go throw your diaper away, Take your doll to Aunt Ruthie, etc....)
*Sometimes throws fits when she doesn't get what she wants... tantrums at 15 months....yup!
*Throws a ball
*Loves to use utensils while eating and getting pretty good with them.
*Was on an antibiotic for the third time in her life....ear infection that went along with the never ending cold/cough. Takes antibiotics (and all medicine) if we let her hold the shooter and put it in her mouth alone.... Miss Independent!
*Loves Baby TV (An ATT UVerse channel)
*Got her first taste of sweets (besides her smash cake on her birthday she didn't really like) and lovedddd her Kiki's famous sugar cookies! She also had her first Round Rock donut and gobbled it up!
*Does great sleeping in the car at bed time. We now do all of our road travel at 7:00 pm and she conks out immediately and stays asleep the whole drive.
*Loves playing in the bath, but despises getting her hair and face washed.
*Went to Chicago and took two trips to Austin this month and really does well traveling and being with lots of new people.
*Thinks/knows she's funny.
*Really mocks what we do. She watches Jacob get ready every morning and one day I had her on the counter in the bathroom where she got into the jar of Q-Tips, got one out and put it in her ear! Yikes!
*Loved opening up presents at Christmas. Just a few months ago at her birthday she didn't really get it.
*Draws with paper and writing utensil or on her magnadoodle.
*Favoring her right hand with drawing, eating, throwing, etc.
