Embry: 13 Months Old

13 Month Stats

Weight: 22.4 pounds (done at home)
Height: this one is too much of a pain....I'm only going to include the months we have well checks!
Diapers: Size 4
Clothes: 12 months, some 18 month swing tops, a few 6-12 month shirts. She wears 12 month pajamas, 18 month pajamas are quite baggy on her.
Shoes: Size 4....which funny enough are 9-12 month! And she still has room to grow in her 4's. Her feet seem big, but I guess not.
Eating: Eats 3 meals a day, 2 snacks a day, drinks around 10 oz of organic whole milk per day
New foods: Chicken salad, grapes, potato soup, turkey dogs,
Sleeping: 11-12 hours straight through the night and two naps (typically at 8:30 am and 1:30 pm)
Teeth: 3 teeth, her other top tooth is ALMOST in.
Words: Same as last month..."mama" and "dada" but does sign language consistently! Signs "milk", "more", "all done", and "food"

New Things!

*No more breast feeding, has been weaned four weeks already! Big girl!
*Knows where her eyes, nose, teeth and hair are when asked (when she wants to answer!)
*Getting very cuddly with us. She was never a cuddly baby, but is starting to enjoy sitting on our laps, loving on us, giving us hugs, etc.
*Getting a little shy around people (not kids still) but is very quick to warm up. I wouldn't call it "stranger anxiety", but likes Mommy to hold her and she lays her head on my shoulder in new situations for a few minutes.
*Loves her purse, and acting like anything with an opening and a strap is a purse (bucket, etc)
*Loves her coupe car and push car. She sits in them herself and waits for us to push her around in them.
*Absolutely loves playing outside, collecting acorns, sticks, leaves, etc.... We spend a lot of time outside every day! Rainy days really affect our days!
*We like to call her our little hoarder. She has certain places (her shopping cart, pumpkin bucket, certain cups, etc) where she likes to collect things. I have started emptying her shopping cart every few days and it always fills up with her special treasures.... (One morning Jacob was showering, where he set out his clean boxers on the bathroom floor- when he got out he couldn't find them. We searched the WHOLE house. Finally we found them in Embry's cart, under a book. In 5 minutes she found them, took them to her cart and piled stuff on top!)
*Starting to like TV. We found a channel on AT&T Uverse called BabyTV. No commercials, no breaks, just continuous 3-5 minute little segments that seem to really hold her attention! I haven't tried any TV shows with her lately, but it's nice she likes to cuddle and watch TV in the morning and after her afternoon nap for a few minutes!
*Sits still for books during bedtime while Daddy reads to her.
*I'm sure I can say this every month from here on out, but she is just SO, SO busy. She's into everything! By the end of the day I am worn out!
*Dances to music and even some jingles on commercials.
*Can be dramatic...hand-in-face crying when she doesn't get her way.
*Has started bolting from us recently when she knows she has something she shouldn't. Recently she had something she shouldn't and Jacob and I both said, Embry NO and she looked at us and ran the other way. Little stinker!
*Seems to be making more word like sounds and looking at us like, don't you understand what I'm saying here people?!? I think she wants so badly to talk!
*Understands way more of what we say. For example I can say- Embry, go get your maraca and put it in your bucket and she will. Or let's go get your water, she'll walk to the fridge.
*Loves bed time and nap times. She's never been one to fight sleep, but now around nap time I can usually find her with lovey standing by her crib. Gotta love a scheduled girl!
*Unfortunately, getting picky with food. I sometimes make three different things for her, even though she ate the other two things and loved them the day before. I'm ready for her to be able to tell me what she wants!
*"Smells" flowers. Will go up to flowers and plants and put her nose up to them making a sniff sound.
*Was pretty much congested most of the month, and has gotten GREAT about blowing her nose. Leans into tissues and even the nose bulb! If you hand her a tissue she'll "blow her nose" (put it up to her nose and make a sniff sound).
